>  Riverdark RSS Syndicator
Short Description
Simple RSS 2.0 syndication for IPB2.

Detailed Description

This is a pretty basic little RSS syndication tool for Invision Power Board 2.0.0, which outputs the last x number of posts in an RSS 2.0 feed. I've cleaned it up a bit more as of 2.1.0 to handle differing SQL installations and upgraded-boards better, and 2.1.7 fixes a bunch of encoding issues with languages other than English; it should hopefully run for more people now.

Just copy this rss.php file into the directory where your Invision 2.0.0 installation is, and tweak the settings near the top of the file (below the change history). That's all; now you should be able to point to rss.php and get the last X posts in publically readable (and non-password-protected) forums. RSS.php checks for the permission a guest would have in viewing a board, and only displays those posts.

You can also tack on a 'forum=' or 'topic=' with the appropriate ID on the end of the URL and rss.php will just syndicate the last X posts in that particular forum or topic. I use those options to make an 'RSS' link in the forum and topic views of my board. This is, in fact, the main reason I wrote the RSS syndicator instead of just using ssi.php; I wanted more flexibility in what I syndicated, and how. The demo link goes to one of my own board installations, which has links for the RSS feeds.

This can also be set up to syndicate only the last active topics, rather than the last active posts.

Enjoy! Hopefully this is useful to anyone other than me.

Help! I put the file here:
http://erm.bloggernauts.net/rss.php

Localy it should be here: D:\hshome\bloggernauts\erm.bloggernauts.net\rss.php

What EXACTLY should I put to make it work. I saw many error like "Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING", etc.
My IPB is v2.3.5. I am talking about $forum_path.

Please help.

Ok so I got it running to rss for my anime site. How can I add this feed on my main site (not the forums) so feeds show there?

What I really mean is how do I get the .xml file for this?

I test it for a French v2 board and it work nicely -> http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php/f/3405
Unfortunately this version on a 1.3 board -> http://mods.invisionize.com/db/index.php?f=1093 didn't work at all with accents caracters.

Can I ask you to modify the 1.3 version as you have done for the v2. I can test it for you if you didn't have anymore access to an 1.3 board.

Thanks

There's a new version up; IPB changed how emoticons are stored (feh) which caused the emoticon-parsing logic to eat certain posts. Anyway, new version hopefully will work fine.

On the db_driver error, I'm guessing you upgraded? There's a problem in upgrades with case-sensitivity; the fix is listed several pages back, though I cannot offhand recall what it was. (I'm packing to leave on a trip right now, hence a rather hasty post.)
